This week the children have been learning about people who help us. We had a sensory messy area of fire engines, a fire station and figures which had lots of shaving foam for the children to explore and play with. We also had Fireman Sam’s hats to count and match numbers to.
In our small world area we had people figures and their vehicles which was so much fun to play with/explore whilst learning about their very important roles of helping people. Some of these people included the Police, Doctors and Nurses, Dentist, Firemen and Teachers
Outside we had a hospital as our playhouse where all the children could dress up and look after each other. The children loved being a doctor or nurse wearing the stethoscope and exploring the bandages to make us better.
In the sand outside we had lots of shapes for the children to find and explore. We encouraged the children’s language in this area by asking the children what shapes we could find and the sizes which also enhanced the children’s mathematical development.
In RE we have been learning about where we belong. The children have seen pictures of their own lovely homes and we have been talking about our families, friends and school. We all sang a lovely song about where we belong and even got to make cakes that could belong to us yummy, what a treat the children all enjoyed baking there lovely treats.
After half term we are going to be learning all about our favorite stories and rhymes starting off with the very much loved story of the Gruffalo!!!! We cant wait to share this with you all.
Have a lovely half term and we will see you all when you back
Lots of love from Seedlings
