WOW another busy but brilliant week of learning in Pine Tree class. We continued with all our learning from last week, but in addition this week we have developed our knowledge and understanding about Remembrance Day. On this day we think about all of the soldiers who have fought in wars to help to keep us safe. To acknowledge this day we took part in a moments silence at 11am to remember those people and we took part in various activities throughout the day, including making our own Poppy wreaths, split pin Remembrance Day Poppies and some of us even did a Remembrance Day themed word search consisting of the vocabulary poppy, parade, cenotaph, memorial, veteran, honour, soldier and wreath.

We have also been learning about the history of the charity BBC Children in Need which raises money to help make a difference to children who need some support. We watched videos and learnt about the different ways people have raised money in past years and how this money has been used. As a school on Friday we are supporting this charity through having a ‘dress down day – come as yourself’ and are asking each person to make a donation towards BBC Children in Need. In class on Friday we are going to be taking part in several activities including games of ‘Pudsey says…..’ using action cards, Children in Need mark making activities including ‘spot to spot’, several games of ‘I spy’ and even games of Children in Need themed picture BINGO!

Remember this weekend’s homework – see note attached in your home/school communication books. Each week we share and discuss these as a whole class during Monday morning’s news session and the students really enjoy the opportunity to talk about and show their weekend news and the homework they have completed to their friends.

Have a great weekend, take care and see you all next week 🙂
