A lovely week celebrating Spring and new life.

This week we have been learning all about spring and spring animals. The children have  been creating something special for our lovely mummies when learning about mother’s day, which they all enjoyed making.

In our writing area we have been using chalk to copy and trace letters to help our writing skills. The children have to work hard and use good concentration when tracing the letters whilst holding the chalk to make the letters M U M.

We had a table display of a treasure basket filled with lots of different objects that would remind us of our mummies that the children could explore. This included a soft scarf some flowers, cooking equipment a nice story that we might read together and some things to take care of ourselves and keep us healthy. This encouraged the children to explore each object and also enhance communication with each other talking about the objects and their very own mummies.

In RE the children are learning all about the Easter story. We read the story along with props the children can explore. The children also can taste the bread and have a little drink of the blackcurrant cordial to represent the wine. We also talked about the Easter egg and had a little treat by tasting the chocolate Egg – this was very exciting and the children can not wait for the Easter bunny to come to their houses.

Outside we have had the a muddy stuff tray filled with potatoes, carrots, broccoli and soil for the children to dig and plant. The children could use various tools to dig for the vegetables or just use their hands to have a good dig to explore.

In our numeracy area we had 5 little ducks to help us with our counting. The children enjoy singing along to this well known nursery rhyme of ‘5 little ducks went swimming one day’ and we had puppets and feathers to help us to feel the ducks feathers and how soft they are.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend and look forward to seeing you all next week.

Love from Seedlings xxx
