This week we all had a chance to learn and explore about the Chinese New Year. We learnt  it is the year of the Rat and the Chinese make red lamps to decorate their houses in order to pray for blessings, longevity, health and peace. They also write good luck messages to each other and they are given money in a red envelope.  New clothes are worn to symbolise a fresh new year and  at meal times often they have eight or nine dishes as these are lucky numbers!

We dressed up in Chinese clothes and hats, explored Chinese fans and umbrellas and had some messy play with noodles and rice!

Here are some pictures of us all dressed up and taking part!
