We came back to school in September and had such a busy first half term. During the first half term the children have worked really hard in all areas of work as well as getting to know new staff members and friends in Maple Tree class.
In literacy we read the story ‘Mr Men Birthday Party’ and the children enjoyed exploring the items to go with the story, especially the cake!! The children made their own presents which are up on our class display. We also had a joint class party with our friends from Bay Tree Class. We played lots of games, danced and ate plenty of food. It was fantastic!!
During our Art lessons we looked at an artist called Franz Marc, focusing on animals. The children found animals using ICT and then created their own pictures in the style of Franz Marc. We also had a special visitor who came to see us in class, Florence the tortoise!
In PSD we learnt about people who help us and explored a variety of items. The children enjoyed talking about who helps them at school and at home. We also looked at what the emergency services are, why we might call 999 and who we would need to ask for in specific emergency scenarios.
During our R.E lessons we have been looking at Hinduism and the story of ‘Rama and Sita’. The children have enjoyed exploring the story and props. We have listened to music and played the bells, made our own Rangoli patterns and used the foot spas so the children could wash their feet ready for prayer.
We will keep you all updated on what we have been getting up to and the learning in Maple Tree Class.
