Welcome to Pine Tree class blog. This week has been fun with lots of super learning. We have introduced our new Religious Education topic focusing on the religion of Hinduism. To introduce the lesson we used the object of reference, lighting the candle ad listening to calming music. We then learnt some interesting facts. Did you know that –

  • Hinduism is the worlds oldest religion.
  • Hinduism is the main religion in India, but there are followers all over the world.
  • Hindus actually believe in only one God, but in many forms.
  • Hinduism is the third largest religion in the world.

After all that fact finding it was time for a moment of reflection. We looked at pictures on the interactive whiteboard and discussed as a class how they made us feel. Some students felt ‘calm’ and ‘relaxed’ while others said they felt ‘togetherness’, ‘working together with their friends’. We also enjoyed experiencing Indian themed dancing, meditation and tasting some Indian food, including onion bhajis, vegetable samosas, naan breads and poppadoms. To conclude the week we learnt about the Hindu place of worship/symbolic house ‘Mandir’ and what is within this special building.

Wow what a fantastic week we have had.

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend.

Love everyone in Pine Tree class 🙂
