Hello Maple Tree families 🙂

What a glorious week we have had. Thanks to those parents who have sent in sun cream and hats. Please do send some in if you haven’t already to keep the children protected from the sun. We do hope to have more sunny weather. We have had yet another busy week covering RE, Phonics, Music, PE, Numeracy and Literacy as well as swimming.

On Monday we had a great PE session running, jumping and throwing and practicing more things for our Sports Day. In Phonics this week we have been practicing s, ss, f and ff. We practiced finding these in different words.

In Numeracy we have begun learning more about 3D shapes. We have explored the shapes, gone on a shape hunt around school and even had a go at building with them.

We are continuing reading our class book Jack and the Flumflum Tree and have enjoyed sharing this and the props outside. We have also spent some more time trying to compose our own version of the story.

Our topic this week has been RE and more specifically about friendship and helping others. We read the story of “Feeding the 5000” and “The Good Samaritan”. We looked at caring for pets as well as people. We had a great time making bread, role playing and having a go at play fishing outside. We have spent time taking care of our friends and sharing games with each other.

In Music with Anna we are still looking at being by the seaside. We have danced and played different instruments as well as had a go at conducting.

We all looked very smart on Wednesday for our school photographs. Don’t forget next Tuesday we are having our Egyptian day so please come with costumes if you can and remember to let us know if your child has any problems with face paint.

Have a lovely weekend.
