Oak Tree Bake off!

Date: 16th Jun 2024 @ 7:52pm

What an extremely busy week we have had in Oak Tree class and our first full week back of the final half term of this academic year. It has certainly flown by!!

This half term our ‘Creative curriculum topic’ is all about ‘Festivals’ and we have incorporated this throughout the curriculum. In Literacy, the formal group have been reading a story called ‘Carnival! A Celebration in St Lucia.’ This is all about a little girl called Melba, who wakes up late and has to try and get to the Carnival on time. The pupils have been developing their understanding of this story and have been writing sentences about what they could see, hear and smell. The MSI group have been engaging with a story about attending a music festival. They have been exploring the different props and have been engaging well.

We also had the opportunity to attend and compete in the first Pear Tree Bake Off festival as part of our inspiration day. This was combined with healthy eating week and we had the opportunity to try different healthy foods as well as learning what needs to be eaten to ensure we had a balance diet. For the bake off, pupils in class made a delicious and healthy carrot cake oat cookie, which we turned into an ‘Oat Tree’. After going through a rigours judging, our bake was declared the best tasting!
