A Busy week in Oak Tree!
Date: 13th Sep 2024 @ 3:18pm
What an extremely busy first full week back we have had in Oak Tree Class with lots of fantastic learning opportunities taking place.
This half term in Vocational Education, we have been focusing on Independent Living Skills. These will include cooking, cleaning and general household tasks, which we can participate in during the school day. This week we have been focusing on making a fruit smoothie. As a group we had to read through the instructions, find the different equipment that we needed and then wash our hands before starting. We then learnt how to safely cut the fruit using either a crawl or bridge grip, before some of us had a cheeky taste of the fruit.
We added the mixed fruit, natural yoghurt and orange juice together in the blender, before taking it in turns to press the button to mix it all up. We all then enjoyed tasting the delicious fruit smoothie.
The hard task came next as we had to ensure that the classroom was clean and tidy before heading home. The pupils worked really hard to wash the dishes, wipe the tables and sort the recycling as well as hoovering.
Have a great weekend!
