Compass Centre blog of the week: space themed AA, literacy and mathematics

Date: 15th Nov 2023 @ 3:46pm

Happy Wednesday everyone - we hope you are all having an amazing week 😄

This week in the Compass Centre, we have been continuing to look at the topic 'space'.

During attention autism this week, our learners have been accessing stages one to three activities including: stage one, popping bubbles and watching a balloon take off; stage two, engaging in a lemonade explosion (like a rocket taking off to space); and stage three, pushing the pump to make the rocket fly up to space.

In addition, during active literacy, our learners have been exploring a sensory space story. Each pupil enjoyed feeling and smelling the alien slime, understanding that the alien felt sad because he felt he was different by wiping away the aliens wet tears, and helping the alien shoot back up to space by jumping on the trampette. Well done everyone!

Our active mathematics sessions have also included activities involving space. They included pegging up the numbered spaceships in the correct order on the number line, matching the numbered aliens to their corresponding spaceship and labelling the different shaped aliens to their correct shape terminology.

What a fun-filled week, well done everyone 😄

Enjoy the rest of your week,

The Compass Centre team 😊
