Hi everybody!

Welcome back to the Elm Tree blog and this weeks update for all the work we have been doing.

In numeracy, we have been learning about position and direction.  Some pupils have been learning the prepositions: in, on, under, in front, behind, next to and between by saying where different soft toys are.  Some pupils have been learning about the directions: forward, backward, left urn and right turn by following the directions an adult was giving them to move around class.  We have also made it trickier by introducing quarter turns into the instructions.

In computing we are learning about ICT hardware and e-safety.  Some pupils have been using a computer to choose and play their favourite TV show theme tunes.  Some pupils have been practising typing and searching skills by looking for photographs of their favourite things.  Some pupils are learning how to stay safe on the internet by reading a story called Penguinpig.  It is about a girl who finds a picture of a Penguipig on the internet and wants to go and see it.  She tells her parents about it, but they are too busy to go, so she decides to go on her own.  She doesn't find a Penguinpig at the zoo, but we won't spoil the surprise if you want to read it.
