Elm Tree Class Blog 23/02/24
Date: 23rd Feb 2024 @ 3:41pm
Hi everybody,
Welcome back to the Elm Tree Class Blog after the half term holidays. We hope you've had a great time and are ready and raring for lots more hard work!
It has been the Inspiration Day for our curricuoum theme of Around The World. Each class had activities set up linked to their continent that pupils could explore, Elm Tree Class had Asia so we made dragon masks and Chinese lanterns. We throroughly enjoyed all the different things to do, tasting different food is always the best thing though! We finished the day off by watching Mulan as that is the story we are reading this half term.
all through the week we have been learning about the art and culture of a different Asian country. On Monday we learned about the Chinese lion dance. We made a lion head and practised playing the drums to give the lions instructions for what to do. Tuesday was South Korea and the pupils used salt dough to make tiles. Wednesday was Nepal, Julie kindly brought in photographs of when she lived there as well as a Tuk-Tuk, a rickshaw and a truck for us play with. Thursday was Japan and we made a huge tactile version of The Great Wave off Kanagawa.
On Wednesday, Elm Tree Class pupils joined with pupils from Oak Tree Class and 6th Form to go to Brockholes. It was a very wet and windy day, bu that didn't dampen the pupils' enthusiasm and everybody that went had a great day.
That's all for this week,
Have a great weekend and see you next week!
