Oak Tree Class: Nature

Welcome back!

We hope you had a lovely half term and a restful break! We were so happy to have everyone back!

This week in Oak Tree we have been learning lots of new things. In Literacy we started reading our new story, Jack and the Beanstalk, linking to our Creative Curriculum topic of Nature! We have enjoyed reading the story and all the children have joined in whilst reading and have started to develop their understanding of the story. 

As part of our Creative Curriculum, for Inspiration Day we had to go out into nature to create art. We went on a nature walk to collect our materials to make art inspired by Andy Goldsworthy, which the children enjoyed and found some great pieces of nature to make their art with. We also made art in the field, making a butterfly out of materials we found outside. 

In Numeracy, we have been learning about our new topic, Money! We have been working hard to develop our understanding of which coin is which and have begun to add them together to make an amount. We have done well so far and can't wait to learn more next week.
