Oak Tree: Shadow Making in Science
Date: 20th Sep 2024 @ 3:12pm
What an exciting week we have had in Oak Tree Class with lots of learning taking place. We have been continuing to develop our understanding of capacity and volume in Numeracy and are working hard learning our story, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.
In Science, we have been learning all about Earth and Space. This week we have been learning and exploring light and how shadows are made. We have discussions about how light travels in straight lines and a shadow is created when an object blocks the light. We have been learning about opaque, translucent and transparent objects and how the light can travel through some objects, like glass, but not through others, such as a table.
We then created our own objects out of foil, such as a tree, bowl, microphone, and a cat and used a torch to make the shadow. We moved the torch around to create different angles and sizes to see what would happen.
Have a good weekend,
Sam and the Oak Tree Team
