Pine Tree Class: Smashing our targets!

Date: 14th Nov 2024 @ 3:33pm

We are well into the half term now and we are having another busy week.

In Literacy this week, we are delving deeper into space with our Neil Armstrong story. We have been learning all about how he came to be a pilot and how he applied to NASA to be an astronaut and his application was successful. Did you know, there was only 30 seconds of fuel left on the rocket when they landed in the Sea of Tranquility? We are working towards creating our own story maps and will continue with this for the next few weeks.

In Numeracy, we have been learning about Volume and Capacity. We have been looking at different containers, for example yoghurt pots, then filling them with different materials such as sand, water and rice. The pupils have then been exploring which object is full and which is empty. Some of our pupils have also been using the terms; half full, nearly full and nearly empty to describe the containers.

Our topic of the week is Science where we have been learning all about Forces. We have been exploring the push and pull motions with a variety of objects such as a scooterboard, a soft ball, a (foam!) javelin and a giant bungee rope! The pupils have been loving showing their strength and using the bungee rope to try and pull things over.

Keep up the hard work Pine Tree!
