Pine Tree Class: Solids, Liquids and Gases
Date: 30th Jan 2025 @ 3:41pm
Hi everyone,
This week in Pine Tree Class, our topic of the week is Science and we have been learning about States of Matter. We have been looking at different items and how they present. For example, a liquid does not have a fixed shape and can flow. The students were great at recognising which were solids and which were liquids and some students went even further to recognising gases.
We have finished our topic by changing the states of some food related items. We have turned chocolate into a liquid by melting it and then turned it back into a solid by leaving it at an ambient temperature. We made jelly using solid cubes of jelly and then used boiling water to melt it, before putting it in the fridge to cool it and turn it back to jelly. We even made our own ice cream! We used a bag of ice and salt with the bagged mixture in the middle and slowly but surely it began solidifying to create our ice cream. It has been such a fun topic and we have learnt a lot.
