The Compass Centre blog of the week - Celebrating the arrival of spring
Date: 30th Mar 2023 @ 11:53am
Happy Friday everyone, we hope you had a lovely week!
This week in the Compass Centre, our students have been busy learning about different celebrations held around the time of spring. For instance, some of our learners read a passage about ‘Lucky red envelopes’, which are envelopes filled with money as a gift for children and unmarried people on Chinese New Year. As displayed on the pictures below, our learners had great fun making and decorating red packets with pictures of animal symbols for the New Year - to which they then gave their friends as a gift. We also discovered that this gift could be given at family, gatherings, social events and special occasions such as the arrival of spring!
In addition, our pupils have also been learning about Easter. Some of our learners got very creative and chose a variety of different colours and materials to represent symbols of spring and rebirth. They then decorated an Easter egg template and added their design to a card. Some of our learners then used their fine motor and phonics skills to write a message in the card to a friend or loved one.
We would also like to say a massive well done to the students from Elm Tree, Oak Tree, Sixth Form and the Compass Centre who took part in the Wesham Side Story performance during different occasions of this week. You all did absolutely amazing and should be very proud of yourselves ?
We hope all our readers, team and learners have a fantastic Easter break and we will see you back at school on Monday 17th April ? x
