Oak Tree Class: World of Work Week
Date: 5th Dec 2024 @ 8:39am
What a fantastic and busy week we have had in Oak Tree class! This week has been all about the world of work as we have delved into all aspects of the workplace.
We started the week off by exploring lots of different jobs and discussing jobs that we might like to do when we are older. We then had the opportunity to explore the world of catering as the pupils made onion bhajis and samosas with a natural yoghurt dip with Shirin. We can confirm that these were delicious! In the afternoon, we had an amazing hairdressing workshop with Olivia from Salon 7 in St Annes. Olivia taught us the different jobs and roles within hairdressing and showed us how to plait and use a curling tong. It was great fun!
On Tuesday, we participated in a drama workshop with Kerry from Lowther Pavilion where we learnt about the different roles within the theatre. We had the opportunity to put our acting skills to the test when creating our own short performance about being pirates on a ship. We had to get our decorating overalls on in the afternoon as we explored painting and decorating. We had the opportunity to make our own wallpaper and then attempted to hang it, which was tricky!
We finished the week off with a session with Darren who is a radio broadcaster and we got to create our own radio broadcast! We also had a visit from the fire service and police, developing our skills in writing a CV and filling out application forms.
We are all ready to take on the world of work!
