Compass Centre blog of the week: Attention autism in the sunshine

Date: 15th Jun 2023 @ 3:02pm

Happy Friday everyone - we hope you have all had an amazing half term and week!

This week in the Compass Centre, we have been settling back in to our routine sessions including aerobics, sensory circuits, active numeracy and literacy. In addition, all our learners and staff have thoroughly enjoyed making the most out of the lovely sunshine, by taking part in daily attention autism sessions outside. Our theme this week has been surrounded around water play and using key words such as ‘splash’, ‘cool’ and ‘pop’. We have explored ‘what is in the box’ by looking at different interactive resources such as bubbles, helicopter pull and bowling pins/ ball. The learners then got a chance to be involved in water play activities such as water splash within the parachute as a group, filling up water balloons and popping them and keeping each other cool by taking it in turns to spray water mist on each other. Everybody enjoyed learning about turn taking, enhancing their communication skills and being focused within each task.

Well done everyone!

We hope you all have a lovely weekend ??
