Compass Centre blog of the week: Treasure Island and sensory fun

Happy Thursday everyone,

We hope you have had a great week!

This week in the Compass Centre, all our learners have worked super hard. During the nurture and literacy group session this week, each learner became more familiar on how to follow instructions. The nurture group made play dough, discovering a variety of textures and smells and in active literacy they analysed and followed small steps to make their own toasties (which they ate for snack).

In addition, our learners have been very engaged during our sensory story’s new topic, ‘Treasure Island’. During this session, each pupil has been learning the stages of this new story by: looking at different objects linked to the story, for instance sand on the beach, roleplay sword fight, globe observation, finding treasure, scrubbing the deck with a sponge and taking part in a fishing game. Well done everyone!

Our other sessions have included Sherborne, active numeracy and communication - all of which everyone has thoroughly enjoyed.
