Compass Centre blog: transition week and attention autism

Date: 13th Jul 2023 @ 3:40pm

Happy Friday everyone!

We hope you had a great week ?

This week in the Compass Centre, we have had some new faces join some of our learning activities! Such activities included our daily attention autism session, which all learners thoroughly enjoyed participating in. This week, we have focused on stages 1, 2, 3 and 4, which demonstrates just how much they have developed their listening, shared attention, switching attention and turn taking skills since the start of the year. Within stages one and two, we discovered different, interesting items including small and large bubbles, as well as the water shooter. Next, we watched a lemonade eruption by adding salt to the lemonade. This created a large fountain of fun - we even added different coloured glitter to make it more exciting! After this, in stage four, each learner took their turn to ‘splat’ shaving foam within a tough tray. With the splat they created, each pupil put a picture of themselves on top of it - as a way of becoming familiar to their new peers.

Well done everyone! We hope you have a lovely weekend ?
