Hi Everybody,

Welcome back to the Elm Tree Class blog.  This week's update is going to focus on DT.  This half term we have been learning about bridges and structures and this week we were given a brief to make our own bridge or structure with some help from staff if we needed it.  All half term we have been testing different materials, shapes and joining techniques to see which is strongest.  We have found out that card, straws and lolly sticks are strong materials and triangles are very strong shapes.  We all chose what material we thought would make the best bridge and then tested them by placing coins in the middle to see how many it would take to break them.  Some of us were using large blocks to build tall towers.  We really enjoyed trying to make as tall as we could and then knock them down.
