Hi Everybody,

Welcome back to the summer term at Pear Tree School and in Elm Tree Class.  This half term our curriculum theme is People Who Help us, so in literacy we will be learning about the different jobs people do.  We will also be thinking about how we help other people around us and what we can do to help each other.  In numeacy we are learning about time, so we will be covering days of the week, months of the year and telling the time on an analogue clock.  In science we are learning about living things and their habitat by looking at the variety of plants and animals in the habitats around Kirkham as well as sround the world.  In PSD we are learning about mental wellbeing by reading a story called the Colour Monster, we will also be taking part in lots of different meditation and calming activites to help us keep regulated.  In geography we are going to be learning about countries in Asia, what the urban and country environments look like.  We are looking forward to the best bit of learning about different countries, the music and food!

This week's focus is art, and we are learning about a local artist called Robert Haworth who is also known as the Butterfly Man.  You can look at his website and read his story here: https://iamthebutterflyman.com/

as you will see, he has a very distinctive style and we are going to be pracitising using lines and colours to paint our own pictures based on his work.  This each pupil chose their favourite painting of his and used felt tips and pencil crayons to recreate it.
