This half term in Vocational Option, the pupils have been learning all about Catering. Within these lessons we have been learning all about how to make different items and developing an understanding of how to keep safe. 

For some pupils, they have been learning how to hold a knife correctly and to move around the room, as well as developing their different cutting grips including a bridge and a claw. They have also been learning the importance of health and safety including washing their hands and also wearing the appropraite clothing. 

The pupils have loved putting these skills into practice whilst making a fruit salad and sandwiches They had to initally design their fruit salad and sandwiches before utilising their knife skills to be able to cut these into smaller pieces. Then, finally, the best bit... eating it all up!! 

They have also been learning all about how to make different hot drinks including coffee, tea and hot chocolate. They really enjoyed making the drinks and then had a good chat around the table with a biscuit whilst drinking what they had made. 

Ask them to practice these skills at home, as the brews they made were amazing and the staff thoroughly enjoyed them!
