Maple Tree Class: Volcanic Geography
Date: 14th Nov 2024 @ 4:00pm
This week in Maple Tree, we have been learning all about volcanoes in Geography.
So far we have learned what volcanos are and what they do. We've discovered that volcanoes can erupt, and that when they do, out comes hot lava and big, dark clouds full of dust and gas.
During Box Time we pretended that a volcano really did erupt but instead of lava out came ... fizz! We used lemonade and salt to creat our own volcanic eruption and watched as the lava (fizz) came rushing out the top!
Not only have we practiced a volcanic eruption, we have made our very own paper mache volcano! This was a messy experience for all, some sat and watched and experienced the feel of the goopy glue and wet soggy sticky paper vicariously through those who did want to take part.
Throughout the week we will learn how to stay safe during earthquakes and look at different buildings that have been impacted by them.
Love Maple Tree.
