Nameste from Oak Tree

This week has been very busy at Pear tree as it has been MADD week and the pupils have loved it! 

We started the week by travelling to Asia and visiting a safari in Nepal. We traveled on aeroplane, jeep, and even a canoe. On the safari we found some crocodiles, elephants, tigers and rhinos. During the day we also had a flower necklace making session with a guest. We finished the day off by learning some dance moves with wooden sticks and making some Nepalese drums for our carnival on Friday.  

On Tuesday, one of our wonderful TAs taught us all about Fiji, where she is from. We got to try on some traditional clothes and practiced some traditional dances.  We also got a visit from another guest who taught us dances from all around the world. 

On Wednesday we explore Japan. The children loved looking at all the different items from Japan and looking at many photos. We also tried some bubble tea and discussed other food that is from Japan. Many of the children got the opportunity to try on a Japanese kimono while the others were designing their own. We also encountered lots of different animals in our acting lesson practicing being lions, monkeys and even crocodiles! 

On Thursday we learnt all about India and the traditions they follow including talking about the different religions. We also tried some Indian food which everyone loved!! Some of the children also tried on a saree from India. We had a music session that explored instruments from all over the world and the children had a great time banging all the different drums. We finished off by practicing our henna skills and giving Izzy a Henna tattoo for the week! 

Friday was all about celebrating our wonderful world and the amazing week we had. We began the day by making some lanterns from china. We then had a all around the world themed Zumba session. We ended MADD week with a big carnival. We all had so much fun and learnt a lot about our world!
