Oak Tree Class: Off to Antarctica we go!!!
Date: 1st Nov 2024 @ 3:33pm
What an exciting and busy week we have had in Oak Tree Class! We hope that you have all had a lovely half term and you made the most of the nice weather.
This half term our Creative Curriculum topic is Explorers. We have been learning all about our explorer who is Ernest Shackleton. In Literacy, we have started our new class story, which follows the life of Ernest Shackleton from birth to his amazing expedition to the South Pole. The pupils have been developing their understanding of the story and have started to use their communication board to retell it to an adult.
In the afternoon we have been getting very creative and messy when learning about Antarctica. The pupils have really enjoyed exploring the animals in the fake snow and water as well as feeling the icebergs to see how cold it actually is. The have used the laptops to find some key information and then put this information into making their very own shoebox Antarctica habitat. Everyone loved helping to create these.
On Tuesday, we also had the opportunity to go and explore Diwali in the hall. Former Pear Tree teacher Paula came in and brought some fantastic activities for us to be able to learn all about the festival of light. We got to learn some different dances and try on traditional outfits as well as making Rangoli patterns. It was lots of fun!
We hope you all have a fantastic weekend
Sam and the Oak Tree class team.
