Space Week in Oak Tree
Date: 3rd Nov 2023 @ 3:21pm
We hope that you have all had a fantastic half term!
We have had a very busy first week back following the break with lots of new learning taking place. We have started learning a new story in literacy called 'The Spacesuit: How a Seamstress Helped Put a Man on the Moon'. We have been learning all about the first moon landing and how a spacesuit works in preparation for creating an explanation text about our own spacesuit. We are definitely looking forward to creating these! The MSI group have also been learning a new story called 'Travelling in a Spaceship' which they have all been enjoying exploring and engaging in.
In numeracy we have started learning about shapes and in particularly focusing on 2D shapes this week. We have been learning about their properties and have been looking around the classroom, school and community for different shapes.
We have finished the week with a lovely explore in the hall with all the activities linked to our creative curriculum topic 'Space and Entrepreneurship'. We had a great time sending rockets into space, painting moon pictures, making a galaxy out of playdoh and exploring moon craters.
Have a lovely weekend!
