The Compass Centre blog of the week: preparing for the upcoming school play & attention autism

Date: 23rd Mar 2023 @ 5:25pm

Happy Friday everyone, we hope you all had a great week!

This week in the Compass Centre, our learners have been working super hard for the upcoming school play, Wesham Side Story, which is due to commence next Monday 27th March! Some of our functional students have been revising their lines and attending regular rehearsal sessions alongside their Sixth Form peers. They have worked exceptionally hard and each time they practice, are becoming noticeably more confident on stage. In addition to practicing for the big show, our sensory learners have been busy creating colourful videos, which will be presented during the play. Each video is unique and creative. Some videos were produced whilst the pupils were at their session at Space (see a sneak preview below).

As well as the rehearsal fun, our learners have been continuing their regular, routined sessions. A great example can be shown through one of our attention autism lessons. Attention autism is a learning approach that invites learners to engage in a motivational teacher directed activity. This week, our pupils demonstrated increased attention and listening skills within a session that involved water play and lots of enjoyment!

Thank you for reading our blog, we hope you all have a brilliant weekend!

Lots of love,

The Compass Centre Team.
