The force is strong in Oak Tree Class!

This half term in science we are learning all about forces. Some of the class have been engaged in a story called ‘Oscar and the Cricket’ by Geoff Waring. The story is all about moving and rolling with lots of opportunities to explore the forces push and pull. The group have been able to explore pushing a ball along different surfaces, such as the smooth path or the rough grass. They also had to pull the large branch out of the way which stopped the ball rolling. They have started to use their communication boards to indicate which force it is as well as if the ball was moving fast or slow. 

The other group have been also exploring different objects which might need to be pushed or pulled and then deciding which force they are applying. These items have included curling rocks, cars, springs and javelins. They have also been playing a board game which they have had to identify which force is being applied in the picture. 

We are looking forward to learning more about different types of forces over the next few weeks and experimenting with different items and equipment.
