Pine Tree Class: Viking Warriors!

This week, we have been continuing our work on Vikings! This topic has been lots of fun. We have been trying on different Viking outfits; the Vikings wore capes of wool and also wore linen along with leather boots. Their clothes were designed to keep them warm and dry. We also tried on a Viking helmet, and played with a (cardboard!) sword. It was great fun reenacting things along our peers. We have also been looking at the Viking alphabet, it was interesting seeing which letters are completely different, whereas some are really similiar such as 'B', 'S' and 'R'. 

During a circle time session, we found out which different foods the Vikings used to eat.They ate fruit and vegetables and made bread, as well as meat and fish. Can you believe they didn't have ice cream though?! We compared our life now to how it was back then, and matched up photos. The world has developed a lot since the Viking times and we've had a great time learning about it.
