Fruity fun in Bay Tree Class

We have all loved reading and retelling our ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ story this half term, so we decided to learn about and explore the range of fruit that the hungry caterpillar likes to eat. Firstly, we read our ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ story together; taking it in turns to count and name the different types of fruits and what order they were in.

Next, we shared our ideas about what fruit is and named different types of fruit that we know and which ones we like and dislike and why. We then bought a range of fruit from the shop and we enjoyed using our senses to look at, feel, smell and even taste the fruit.

To finish off our fruity fun week, we bought a wide range of different fruits and used our fine motor skills to carefully hold and use our own knives to cut the fruit up. We then chose which fruits we wanted to put together in the blender to make a range of different smoothies for us all to try! Everyone was fantastic and had a smell or taste of the smoothies and gave their verdict for each one.

We also enjoyed our closing ceremony for our Olympics topic this term; where we remembered the different sports that take place in the Olympics and we enjoyed getting messy by making our very own salt dough Olympic medals! Also, as an extra treat, we all enjoyed sitting together and watching the video of our school sports day, which made us all smile and giggle too!

We hope you have a lovely weekend and maybe you can have fun doing something sporty, or talk about which fruits are your favourite and why.
