Strong foundations

This week in Pine Tree class we have thoroughly enjoyed our learning. On Tuesday we learnt about Chinese New Year and developed our knowledge and understanding of this celebration which is celebrated by more than 20% of the world, and is the most important holiday in China. 2022 is the Year of the Tiger according to the Chinese zodiac, starting from February 1st, 2022, and lasting until January 21st, 2023. Throughout the week we have been learning about ‘Structures, Mechanisms and Moving Parts’ as part of our Design Technology work. We have learnt what each of these are defined as, as well as exploring a range of objects that use mechanisms and moving parts to work. We also learnt and have seen different structures around the world. We particularly enjoyed opportunities to make our own structures using Duplo, Lego and Unifix Cubes, various split pin activities and making a cardboard car with axels and wheels to develop our learning of moving parts.
